About the role
The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) is a critical participant in the administration of justice within Western Australia, providing an independent and effective criminal prosecution service and confiscation practice.
The Legal Practice Support Branch delivers paralegal, clerical and administrative support services to state prosecutors throughout the criminal and appellate areas of the ODPP. The Branch is made up of a group of experienced team leaders, and a dedicated team of paralegals and legal practice support officers.
We are establishing a talent pool of applicants with a paralegal, administrative or clerical background to fill vacancies across the Legal Practice Support Branch. Successful applicants will have a strong team and customer service focus, effective communication skills, the ability to prioritise competing tasks, and demonstrated experience applying and interpreting legislation, policies and procedures.
Suitable applicants will be placed in a recruitment pool from which appointments will be made. This pool will run for a period of twelve months and may be used to fill permanent, fixed-term, full time and part time vacancies if they arise and subject to business needs.
About the Role
As a paralegal, you will play a key role in supporting the State’s most serious criminal prosecutions. Working closely with state prosecutors, you will provide paralegal and administrative support, including preparing and managing case materials and liaising with external stakeholders. A legal background is not required for this role.
Your demonstrated paralegal or administrative experience will contribute to maintaining high standards across the team, while your interest in pursuing a career as a paralegal will underpin your commitment and engagement in the role.
