Based on Yugambeh Country, headspace Southport provides free, confidential and youth-friendly support for young people aged 12 to 25 years experiencing mental health concerns, alcohol and other drug issues, or seeking access to primary health care.

Operated by Lives Lived Well, headspace Southport is an early intervention service committed to improving young people's wellbeing through accessible, evidence-based and person-centred care.

We are seeking a passionate and motivated Mental Health Clinician to join our multidisciplinary team in a part-time ongoing position.

About the Role

As a Mental Health Clinician, you will deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions to young people using headspace's Session-by-Session Framework, providing targeted support tailored to individual needs.

You will undertake assessments, provide brief therapeutic interventions, coordinate care, facilitate referrals and support young people and their families to achieve positive recovery outcomes.

Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, you will deliver high-quality, person-centred care that supports young people to improve their wellbeing and achieve their goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver evidence-based interventions using the headspace Session-by-Session Therapy model.
• Conduct bio-psycho-social assessments using the headspace assessment framework.
• Undertake comprehensive risk assessments, including suicide and violence risk assessments.
• Develop treatment plans and provide brief therapeutic interventions.
• Coordinate care and support young people to access appropriate services and supports.
• Facilitate referrals and provide follow-up support where required.
• Participate in intake activities, including responding to referrals and enquiries.
• Facilitate psycho-social and clinical group programs.
• Participate in case reviews and multidisciplinary care planning.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical records and documentation.
• Manage competing clinical and administrative priorities within a busy youth mental health service.

Essential Requirements

• Degree qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or Mental Health Nursing.
• Minimum one year's experience within mental health and/or alcohol and other drug (AOD) services.
• Experience undertaking bio-psycho-social assessments and screening activities.
• Experience delivering counselling, brief therapeutic interventions and treatment planning.
• Demonstrated ability to undertake comprehensive risk assessments, including suicide and violence risk assessments.
• Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with young people, families, carers and stakeholders.
• Current Blue Card (Working with Children Check).
• Current Australian Driver Licence.
• Ability to successfully obtain a National Police Check.

Professional Registration Requirements

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:

• Psychologists must hold current AHPRA registration (provisional registration will be considered).
• Social Workers must be eligible for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
• Registered Nurses must hold current AHPRA registration.
• Occupational Therapists must hold current AHPRA registration.

Desirable Experience

• Previous experience in youth mental health.
• Experience working with young people aged 12 to 25 years.
• Experience within alcohol and other drug services.
• Experience facilitating groups and delivering psycho-social interventions.
• Experience in case management or care coordination.

Salary and Benefits

Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications, skills and experience and aligned with SCHADS Award Level 4.1 - 4.4, equivalent to $49.28 - $52.13 per hour, plus superannuation and salary packaging benefits.
