About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Teacher of French to inspire students in Years 8-10 and contribute to a vibrant language program. Experience of or capacity to teach VCE French would be considered an advantage.
The successful applicant will create engaging and contemporary learning experiences that develop students' confidence in communicating in French while fostering curiosity, intercultural understanding and a genuine appreciation of French language and culture. They will inspire students to think deeply, embrace challenge and strive for personal excellence.
Key responsibilities
Inspire and engage students through a passion for teaching French, with strong knowledge of phonetics, grammar and cultural nuance
Foster an appreciation of French language, culture and global perspectives
Establishing a caring, supportive and engaging learning environment
Providing feedback to students and parents via the Continuous Reporting system
Developing and maintaining relationships and open communication with parents, colleagues and students
A commitment to collaborating with colleagues in the planning, delivery and review of curriculum through the co-creation and refinement of shared resources
A willingness to contribute actively to the cultural, pastoral and co-curricular life of the School
Commitment to Occupational, Health and Safety and maintaining a safe and supportive environment
What we look for
Bachelor’s degree in Education, with French Language, Linguistics or a related field
A passion for nurturing students’ curiosity, resilience and intercultural understanding
Support and contribute to language immersion experiences, cultural events and international opportunities where applicable
Flexibility, adaptability and a collaborative approach to teaching
Native or near-native proficiency in French is highly preferred
Strong communication, organisational and interpersonal skills
A commitment to ongoing professional growth and reflective practice
A professional who actively aligns themselves with the School’s leadership, vision, values and ethos
This is an ongoing, part-time position, commencing Term 1, January 2027. We offer a supportive work environment, continuous professional development opportunities and a chance to contribute to our school’s legacy of excellence.
Applicants must have an awareness of the expectations of an Independent School, appropriate VIT Registration and a commitment to working in an environment where Christian spiritual values underpin true education.
