HD Mechanic

About the role

LWP Logistics Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced HD Mechanic to join our team in Kewdale, WA. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in maintaining and servicing our heavy-duty vehicle fleet. As an HD Mechanic, you will be responsible for ensuring our vehicles remain in optimal working condition, minimising downtime and maintaining the highest safety and performance standards. This role is essential to our operations and directly contributes to the reliability and efficiency of our logistics services.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical faults in heavy-duty vehicles, including trucks, prime movers and trailers

• Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing on all fleet vehicles to industry standards

• Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles and document maintenance work completed

• Replace worn or damaged parts including engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension and electrical components

• Test vehicles after repairs to ensure they operate safely and efficiently

• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repairs performed

• Collaborate with supervisor and colleagues to prioritise repairs and minimise vehicle downtime

• Adhere to all health and safety regulations and workshop protocols

• Operate diagnostic equipment and tools correctly and safely

What we're looking for

• Current Heavy Vehicle Mechanic qualification or equivalent recognised certification

• Proven experience working as a mechanic in the heavy vehicle or automotive trades industry

• Sound knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems and brake systems

• Competency in using mechanical tools, diagnostic equipment and computer-based diagnostic systems

• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively

• A commitment to health and safety standards and workplace protocols

• Valid HR driver's licence

• Preferably, experience in fleet maintenance or logistics operations
