About the role
Fixed-term Full Time
About us
At the City of Bayswater, we believe that great communities are built by people who care. That’s why we’re guided by strong values, shared purpose, and a real passion for creating meaningful change. We prioritise sustainability, community wellbeing, and welcoming places where everyone can thrive. As an employer, we’re committed to a culture that values inclusion, balance, and personal growth. Whether you're starting your journey or building on experience, we offer the chance to develop your skills, contribute meaningfully to the community, and help shape the future of a vibrant and evolving community.
About the Position
This fixed-term, full-time position (parental leave cover) is offered for the period 28 September 2026 to 1 October 2027.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Environment
Officer to join our team and lead the delivery of innovative and
impactful environmental projects. In this role, you will plan and
implement on-ground initiatives, manage environmental grants, and
coordinate community engagement activities such as workshops,
events, and volunteer planting days. You will provide expert
environmental advice to internal teams and stakeholders, interpret
relevant legislation to support compliance and policy alignment,
and represent the City in working groups, interagency initiatives,
and community forums. As a number of the City’s programs are
delivered outside of normal business hours, the position requires
some flexibility to deliver key events such as planting days,
workshops and Council Briefings.
The successful candidate will contribute to strategic environmental
planning documents, oversee procurement and contractor management,
and help shape the City's approach to sustainability and
environmental stewardship. If you are passionate about making a
difference and promoting a positive, inclusive, and sustainable
future, we encourage you to apply.
About You
We’re seeking a passionate and experienced Environment Officer to join our team and help drive meaningful environmental outcomes for the community. You’ll bring a positive friendly attitude to join a cohesive, high performing team. You’ll have a strong background in delivering on-ground projects, engaging with stakeholders, and providing advice on environmental policy and compliance. Strong communication, project management, and community engagement skills are essential, along with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
You’ll need a Bachelor of Science (Environmental Science) or
equivalent qualification, and a Working with Children Check (or
willingness to obtain one). If you're passionate about the
environment and ready to make a difference, we’d love to hear from
you.
What we offer
