About the role
We are seeking a visionary General Manager, People & Culture who is ready to make waves in the strategic and operational management of our HR function.
Reporting to the Finance Director and collaborating closely with our CEO, you will ensure our people strategy is executed with precision, directly supporting the company’s commercial performance and integrity.
Overseeing the People & Culture, Learning & Development, and Talent Acquisition teams, you will act as a trusted advisor to the executive team. Your mandate will be to drive organisational capability and optimise our workforce model, while embedding our core values—Make Waves, Precision, Community, and Protect What Is Precious—into a high-performing, collaborative culture.
ABOUT THE ROLEStrategic People Leadership: Develop and execute an overarching HR strategy that aligns with our commercial objectives, translating business goals into clear workforce plans, headcount planning, and capability mapping.Executive Business Partnering: Coach and support senior leaders to drive high performance, courageously challenging them when necessary to ensure the best people-related outcomes.Lead Change & Innovation: Steer organisational change initiatives, including managing the adoption of AI technologies across the business and within the P&C team, while ensuring strict compliance with Australian employment laws.Talent & Performance: Oversee the end-to-end employee lifecycle, from leading the attraction of exceptional, diverse talent to managing the cyclical performance review and remuneration processes.Cultural Stewardship: Design and lead cultural change programs, ensuring all initiatives reinforce our values and support a collaborative, inclusive environment.Compliance & Ethics: Champion ethical practices by ensuring the effective operation of the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) Codes of Practice relating to human rights and labour standards.
ABOUT YOUTo be successful in this role, you will be a strategic thinker with strong commercial acumen and the ability to balance business outcomes with the human impact of decisions.A minimum of 15 years of experience in progressive HR leadership roles within a retail company.An undergraduate degree in human resource management, organisational psychology, business, or a related field.Proven experience working within a retail environment, including a strong understanding of Retail Awards and relevant industrial legislation.Exceptional strategic communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence executives and build trust quickly through a balance of warmth and assertiveness.Deep expertise in managing diverse HR functions including talent acquisition, learning and development, workplace relations, and change management.Align with our company values, MAKE WAVES: Think creatively and challenge the status quo.
