Duty Manager

About the role

Urban Sports Bar is seeking an experienced Duty Manager to join our team on a full-time basis at our Cotton Tree, Queensland location. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and management of our hospitality and tourism facilities, ensuring exceptional guest experiences whilst maintaining the highest standards of service delivery. As Duty Manager, you will be the key operational leader on shift, overseeing staff performance, managing guest relations, and ensuring all procedures are executed to excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations and ensure smooth functioning of all departments within the facility

• Manage and supervise staff members, including task delegation, performance monitoring and conduct staff briefings

• Respond promptly to guest requests, complaints and concerns, implementing effective solutions to ensure satisfaction

• Maintain operational standards and ensure compliance with health, safety and hygiene regulations

• Monitor inventory levels, stock management and ordering of supplies as required

• Handle cash management, financial transactions and reconciliation of daily accounts

• Conduct quality checks on facilities, amenities and guest areas to maintain high presentation standards

• Manage incident reporting, documentation and escalation procedures where necessary

• Coordinate with other departments to ensure seamless service delivery across all guest touchpoints

• Support training and development initiatives for team members

What we're looking for

• Proven experience in a hospitality management or supervisory role, preferably within tourism or accommodation services

• Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate and direct a diverse team

• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with a customer-focused mindset

• Proficiency in point-of-sale systems and hospitality management software

• Sound understanding of health and safety compliance requirements in hospitality environments

• Financial acumen and experience with budgeting and cash handling procedures

• Problem-solving capability and the ability to remain calm under pressure in fast-paced environments

• Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and public holidays as required

• Relevant qualifications such as RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) and First Aid certification

• A commitment to delivering exceptional guest service and creating memorable experiences
