Assistant Manager

We're looking for an Assistant Cafe Manager for our busy cafe on the Hobart Waterfront in Tasmania. 

This front of house role is for someone who loves service, understands people and can help lead a cafe through busy services with calmness, warmth and control.

We believe great service is not just about steps and systems. It is about awareness, timing, instinct and care. Reading the room, supporting the team, noticing the details and making customers feel genuinely looked after.

This role is for someone who can lead from the front, support the Cafe Manager, guide the front of house and kitchen team and help create a venue that feels warm, organised and professional.

The focus is on service, people and consistency.

The role includes:

• Leading daily service on the floor or wherever is needed

• Supporting and developing staff and supervisors

• Maintaining our high service standards and customer experience

• Helping the team read the room and work well under pressure

• Managing customer feedback and resolving issues during service

• Keeping the venue presentable, clean and service-ready

• Preparing espresso coffee & specialty drinks when required during service

• Supporting the team across the floor, coffee section & till operations as needed

• Communicating maintenance, stock and service needs clearly

• Working closely with front of house management, kitchen and senior management teams

• Helping create consistency across shifts

You will ideally have:

- Hospitality management or strong leadership experience

- Good understanding of coffee and ability to produce consistent product

- Experience in a busy café, restaurant or similar venue

- A genuine hands-on management style

- Strong people and customer-service skills

- Confidence managing and developing a team

- Initiative, reliability and a strong sense of ownership
