GEMA Group has been serving up exceptional hospitality and catering experiences since 1984, and our events calendar reads like a bucket list, from the Australian Open to the Formula One Grand Prix and Supercars. We're looking for an Event Operations Coordinator to help lead the charge on the ground, delivering seamless catering and event operations across our portfolio of major events.

About the role

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives in the chaos of live events. You'll be at the heart of the action, coordinating setup, service, and pack-down across multiple event sites, leading teams through fast-paced, high-pressure shifts, and making sure every guest experience (from general admission to corporate hospitality) hits the mark.

What you'll be doing

• Directing setup, service, and logistics across event sites, from general public catering through to premium corporate hospitality

• Solving problems on the fly, troubleshooting in real time to keep service running smoothly

• Leading, motivating, and mentoring casual and permanent teams across different sites

• Running pre-shift briefings, allocating tasks, and making sure every team is set up to succeed

• Being a senior point of contact for clients, suppliers and stakeholders on-site, resolving issues with professionalism

• Upholding GEMA's safety and compliance standards, including WHS, RSA, and food safety, across every event

• Managing rostering to keep events resourced and on budget

• Oversee logistical scheduling to keep event build on track

• Operational leadership and Retail Bar Management

• Reporting back to senior management on performance, standards, and opportunities to do things better

What you'll bring

• Experience in a supervisory, Duty Manager, or Operations Coordinator role in hospitality, catering, or live events

• Food Handlers' Certificate (mandatory)

• Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) Certificate (mandatory)

• White Card (mandatory)

• Forklift license (preferred but not essential)

• A proven ability to lead and inspire diverse teams under pressure

• Strong written and verbal communication and conflict-resolution skills

• Serious multi-tasking ability, you can manage competing priorities across large greenfield sites without missing a beat

• Ability to work across teams in a fluid and fast paced environment.

• Experience with Microsoft Office and sound IT knowledge is advantageous

• A creative, adaptable mindset, you're always looking for a smarter way to do things

• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays around the events calendar

• Role based in Melbourne but must be able to travel to various event locations as required.
