Cairns Hospital's Midwifery Group Practice (MGP) offers a continuity of care model that enables women to build a therapeutic relationship with a known midwife throughout their maternity journey. The service is committed to providing safe, evidence-based, woman-centred care and works collaboratively with obstetric, medical and allied health teams to support individualised care planning and positive birth experiences.

About your opportunity: 

In this position you will.....

• Provide leadership to effectively plan, manage and evaluate patient care activities at an advanced practitioner level within the specified clinical setting.
• Assist the Midwifery Unit Manager to implement and monitor the organisation's quality standards, work health and safety policies, procedures and programs and provide clinical governance in the relevant work area.
• Support the general function of the MGP model through role modelling and application of principles of contemporary, evidence based, person focused midwifery care.
• Participates in and supports the performance and development planning of self and others.
• Understands broad responsibilities for safety and quality in healthcare and actively participates in continuous quality and safety improvement activities within the workplace.
