About the role

Lopez Reeves Pty Ltd is seeking a Cook to join our hospitality team on a casual basis. This position is based in Black Rock VIC 3193 and offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic kitchen environment where culinary excellence and teamwork are paramount. As a Cook, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality meals and maintaining the standards that define our establishment. This casual role provides flexibility whilst allowing you to contribute meaningfully to our food preparation and service operations.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and cook a variety of dishes in accordance with established recipes, portion sizes and plating standards

• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of your workstation and cooking equipment at all times

• Ensure all food preparation and cooking practices comply with health and safety regulations

• Monitor food quality and consistency whilst adapting to customer preferences and dietary requirements

• Work collaboratively with kitchen staff to manage meal service during busy periods

• Rotate stock and ingredients appropriately, following proper food storage procedures

• Communicate effectively with the kitchen team and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service delivery

• Contribute to the continuous improvement of menu items and food presentation

What we're looking for

• Proven experience working as a Cook in a professional kitchen environment

• Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods and culinary fundamentals

• Excellent understanding of food safety and hygiene standards, with relevant certifications preferred

• Ability to work efficiently under pressure, particularly during peak service times

• Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to working within a team

• Physical stamina and the ability to stand for extended periods in a fast-paced environment

• Reliability and flexibility with shift patterns, including potential weekend and evening work

• Attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation
