About The Team
As a Data Scientist within Participants Supervision, you will apply hands-on data science approaches to model data on participant activity across ASX’s markets and clearing and settlement facilities to help protect the integrity and reputation of those markets and facilities. You will contribute to the continuous improvement of the function through the delivery of data-driven automations and solutions to uplift the operational processes and monitoring activities of the function to support key licence obligations.
ASX Supervision is the division responsible for the supervision of market participants and issuers listed on the exchange and is at the front line of ASX’s core license obligations to monitor and enforce the market’s operating rules that helps maintain a fair, orderly, transparent and efficient market—protecting not only the interests of investors but also the reputation of Australia’s financial system as a whole. Within the division, the Transformation and Operational Performance (TOP) team is a multi-disciplinary team of risk, process, systems, and data professionals that collectively enables the ASX Supervision division to achieve its strategic outcomes. The TOP team is responsible for designing, implementing and embedding continuous improvements to its operational and risk management practices.
What You Will Be Doing
Work alongside members of ASX Supervision to understand pain points, process improvement opportunities using data analytics and deliver data analytics solutions to a wide variety of business problems.Develop a deep understanding of the financial markets including clearing and settlement facilities, participant systems, operations and connectivity models, and the Operating Rules and an understanding of their applicationPerform data analysis to identify trends and patterns, and present findings to non-technical stakeholders to support management decision-making and assist the function with monitoring and enforcing the Operating RulesDesign, develop and maintain various data products including dashboards, automated reports and monitoring tools to support the work of the wider ASX Supervision function.Collaborate cross-functionally across ASX with stakeholders and project teams to discover and source data, understand business processes, gather requirements and deliver analytics solutions that meet the requirements of ASX SupervisionPrepare timely and high-quality reports for executive, board, management and regulatory submissionsMaintain good record-keeping, documentation and knowledge of data products, reporting processes and data sourcesUndertake data management initiatives such as data quality monitoring, reconciliations, data validations and remediation to ensure the integrity of our regulatory and management reporting.
What You Will Bring
Must have
Tertiary qualification in a technical discipline such as computer science, data science, statistics, applied mathematicsA minimum of 2 years' experience working as a data analyst or data scientistStrong Python, SQL and Excel skills to manipulate and transform data to derive meaningful insightsWorked with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCPExperience working with data visualisation tools such as Microsoft PowerBI, Tableau, Tibco SpotfireExperience in statistical and predictive modelling, machine learning, and/or natural language processingDemonstrated ability to present data in a clear, logical, concise, contextual and visually appealing mannerIntuition, curiosity and outcome focused with an ability to break down a complex problem and work out how to solve itA learning and continuous improvement mindset, happy to share knowledge and learn from othersDetail focused and proud of your sense of accuracyA talent for interpreting, identifying trends and patterns, and telling stories with dataCommunicating and collaborating effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholdersHighly motivated, able to work autonomously and manage competing prioritiesAbility to work flexibly and adapt to a complex and constantly changing environment where requirements and outcomes are often unknown at the outset
Nice to have
