Are you passionate about empowering young people and creating safe, engaging spaces where they can connect, learn and thrive? We're seeking enthusiastic and community-minded Youth Officers to join our casual team and help deliver exciting programs, activities and events for young people aged 11-18 across the City of Karratha. This role is responsible for supporting youth engagement, recreation programs and the day-to-day operation of our youth facilities.

About the Role

As a Casual Youth Officer, you'll support the delivery of youth programs, events and activities that encourage positive social connection and safe recreation opportunities for local young people. Working closely with the Senior Youth Officer and wider Youth Services team, you'll build meaningful relationships with young people, facilitate programs and contribute to a welcoming and inclusive environment.

This position is primarily based at The Youth Shed in Karratha and The Base in Wickham. Youth Officers will rotate between sites when operationally required to ensure consistent service delivery. Flexible availability is essential, as evening and weekend work forms part of this role.

What You'll Be Doing

• Deliver engaging youth programs, activities and events for young people aged 11-18 years.
• Build positive relationships with young people and provide a safe, inclusive and supportive environment.
• Assist with the day-to-day operations, presentation and safety of youth facilities.
• Support the delivery of youth projects, community events, festivals and initiatives throughout the year.
• Maintain accurate records, respond to enquiries and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders. 

What We're Looking For

• Experience working with young people in youth, community, recreation or related settings.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and engage effectively with young people.
• Understanding of youth development principles, duty of care responsibilities and behaviour management practices.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while managing competing priorities.
• Current Working with Children Check, First Aid Certificate and C Class Driver's Licence (or ability to obtain where applicable).
