Parks Project Officer

About the role:

The City of Swan is looking for a permanent full-time Parks Project Officer to oversee the delivery of high-priority projects that shape the look, feel and function of our parks, reserves and public spaces.

In this role, you'll take the lead on projects allocated by the Service Lead - Parks Maintenance, with a strong focus on turf maintenance programs for category one parks assets, high-profile precincts and active sports ovals. While this position doesn't have direct reports, you'll regularly supervise and direct the work of parks teams and contractors, ensuring projects are delivered to a high standard from start to finish - including managing quality handovers with both internal and external stakeholders.

You'll also play a key role in growing our team's capability, mentoring new and existing staff to build their skills and knowledge in horticulture and operational best practice. Beyond the tools and the turf, you'll bring strong communication skills to every interaction - working collaboratively with colleagues, contractors and the community to genuinely improve quality of life across the City of Swan.    

What you’ll being doing:

• Overseeing projects and plans for high-profile City assets, enhancing the aesthetic and amenity value of reserves and public spaces
• Supervising, supporting and monitoring the outcomes of City staff and contractors delivering parks maintenance and construction works (streetscapes, road reserves, open spaces)
• Mentoring and sharing knowledge with new and existing employees on operational policies and procedures
• Acting as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, upholding excellent communication and customer service standards
• Keeping the Service Lead - Parks Maintenance informed and maintenance programs up to date for all allocated projects
• Contributing to the review and development of business processes
• Managing work within agreed budgets
• Supporting the rollout of customer service, divisional and organisational strategies and policies

About you:

The successful candidate will have the following:

• Certificate III or IV in any of the following: Horticulture, Turf Management, Irrigation, Arboriculture
• Demonstrated experience in the maintenance of parks and natural assets including work scheduling, programming, quality assurance and budgeting
• Experience in project management will be highly regarded
• Leadership skills, including the ability to mentor, guide and coach others in relevant areas of development related to parks projects
• Excellent organisation and time management skills
• White Card
• A satisfactory National Police Certificate
• Current C Class Drivers Licence

The salary for this position will be from $87,442.94 to $103,792.55 per annum, depending on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.
