Experienced Childcare Centre Cook

About the role

This is a permanent part-time position working Monday to Friday, 30 hours per week. This role involves preparing nutritious and appealing meals and snacks for children aged 6 weeks to 6 years. You will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the kitchen and ensuring all meals meet children's dietary, allergy and cultural requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare fresh morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea each day
• Plan and maintain nutritious, child-friendly menus
• Safely manage allergies, intolerances and individual dietary requirements
• Complete food ordering and maintain appropriate stock levels
• Maintain a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen
• Complete all required food-safety records and temperature checks
• Work collaboratively with educators and centre management
• Follow all food-safety, health and early childhood service requirements

About you

• Previous experience as a cook in a childcare centre or similar setting
• Current Food Safety Supervisor certificate
• Current NSW Working With Children Check
• Strong knowledge of food safety and kitchen hygiene
• Experience preparing meals in bulk
• Sound knowledge of allergies and dietary requirements
• Excellent organisation and time-management skills
• A reliable, warm and team-focused approach
• A Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care would be highly regarded but is not essential
