Retail Operations Manager

We’re looking for an inspired and brand-aligned Retail Operations Manager to keep our growing boutique network running smoothly, consistently and profitably; and to bring their magic to the by charlotte experience. You’ll play a key role in creating meaningful moments for our community, inspiring connection, uplifting others, and embodying the by charlotte spirit in everything you do.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

As Retail Operations Manager, you’ll be the operational engine of our retail network; sitting across operations, inventory control and loss prevention to safeguard the accuracy and security of our stock, while continuously sharpening the systems, procedures and standards our stores rely on every day. You’ll also lead the operational delivery of new store openings, refits and in-store events, making sure each launch is on time, on budget and true to the brand. Key responsibilities include: 

Operational management 

• Oversee daily operations across our retail locations, ensuring consistent execution of company policies, procedures and brand standards 
• Develop, implement and refine standard operating procedures (SOPs) to improve efficiency and consistency 
• Complete scheduled store visits to identify opportunities to simplify and streamline processes, working alongside store teams 
• Develop and report on KPIs with the Head of Retail to enable data-led decisions and build the business case for new processes, then integrate them into the store operating manual 
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and regulatory requirements, and coordinate store maintenance and repairs against budget 
• Own the execution of experiential services — sound, aroma and visual displays — and support VM execution for new launches across the boutique network 

Stocktake & inventory control 

• Plan and oversee regular stocktake cycles (full counts, cycle counts, spot checks) across all locations 
• Establish and maintain stocktake procedures that ensure accuracy and consistency with minimal disruption to store operations 
• Reconcile stocktake results, investigate discrepancies and report findings to senior management 

Loss prevention 

• Design, implement and continuously improve loss prevention strategies and controls across stores 
• Monitor shrinkage trends and lead root-cause investigations into stock loss, theft or process failures 
• Oversee CCTV, EAS and other security systems; conduct store audits and compliance checks, and track corrective actions through to completion 
• Train store teams on loss prevention best practice, and liaise with law enforcement or external security providers where required 

New store projects & activations 

• Lead the operational setup of new store openings, including equipment, systems installation, stock intake, packaging, uniform and general supplies 
• Support store refits, relocations and closures with minimal operational disruption 
• Plan and coordinate in-store events and activations that bring the brand to life 

ABOUT YOU 

You’ll shine in this role if you love bringing order and clarity to a fast-moving environment. You’re analytical and a natural problem-solver, especially when it comes to stock discrepancies and process gaps and you bring high attention to detail and integrity to everything you touch, particularly in loss prevention and audit contexts. You have a genuine affinity for systems and a process-improvement mindset, you work proactively and autonomously, and you stay agile and calm when priorities shift. Above all, you’re enthusiastic, collaborative and energised by a growing, project-driven business. 

The ideal candidate will also have: 

• 2+ years of retail operations experience, including managing stocktake and loss prevention functions across multiple locations 
• A strong understanding of inventory control processes, shrinkage management and security systems 
• Proficiency with inventory management software, stocktake tools and reporting tools (e.g. Excel) 
• Project management experience, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and timelines 
• Confidence across the Microsoft Office suite 
• Excellent written, verbal and stakeholder communication skills
