Personal Care Assistant

Total potential earnings: $84,942 – $90,402 (Salary + Allowances) + plus additional benefits detailed below:

• Competitive Salary: Annual salary ranging from $84,942 to $90,402, including various allowances
• Remote Travel Allowance: Receive $7,500 per year, paid over fortnightly instalments.
• Save on tax with Salary Sacrificing: The option to Salary sacrifice of up to approximately $16,000 per year.
• Accommodation: You will be provided with fully furnished staff accommodation, and we subsidise the utility fees, resulting in a comfortable and cost-effective living arrangement (a nominal $30 per bedroom per fortnight).
• Program Leave: Unique 6-week continuous service cycle with 1 week paid leave. (in addition to other leave entitlements)
• Paternity Leave: 2 weeks paid Paternity Leave, accessible upon completion of 1 year of service.
• Loaded Annual Leave: Enjoy 4 weeks of annual leave each year, with leave loading included.
• Relocation Assistance: One-time $1,500 relocation support, with 50% payable upfront and the remainder reimbursed upon submission of receipts.
• Superannuation: Standard superannuation contributions
• Non-smoker Incentive: An additional 1% superannuation employer contribution for non-smokers (conditions apply).

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Personal Care Assistant to provide culturally safe, person-centred care and support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders, people with disability, and their families. The role assists clients to maintain independence, dignity, health, wellbeing and connection to community while remaining safely in their homes and communities. This is a unique opportunity for Aged Care professionals who are passionate about making a positive impact in underserved communities.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist clients with personal care activities, including showering, dressing, grooming, toileting, continence care, and oral hygiene.
• Support clients with mobility, transfers, and safe movement in accordance with care plans and manual handling procedures.
• Promote client dignity, choice, independence, and privacy at all times.
• Encourage clients to maintain existing skills and independence wherever possible
• Support the daily operation of the Day Centre, ensuring a welcoming, safe, clean, and culturally appropriate environment for clients and visitors.
• Assist with the preparation, serving, and cleaning of meals, refreshments, and activities conducted within the Day Centre.
• Support clients to attend appointments, community activities, cultural events, and social outings.
• Assist clients to maintain connections with family, culture, community, and Country.
• Encourage participation in activities that promote the physical, social and emotional well-being.
• Provide safe and reliable transport for clients to attend medical appointments, allied health appointments, community activities, cultural events, shopping, and other approved activities
• Assist with medication prompts and medication support in accordance with organisational policies, training, and delegation requirements.
• Support participants in achieving their NDIS goals and increasing independence.

Eligibility

• This job opportunity is not a remote or work-from-home position; it requires the selected candidate to work on-site at the company’s location.
• Must be willing to relocate and live in the South Australian Aboriginal Community called Yalata.
• Must be over 18 years of age.
• Must have a current Australian driver’s licence and the ability to drive a manual vehicle.
• Must be able to pass a police check assessment.
• Must hold a valid Working with Children’s Clearance.
• Must hold a valid Aged Care Sector Check

Qualifications and experience

• At a minimum, you must have completed one of the following: Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing, Disability, Home and Community) or equivalent qualification, or willingness to obtain.
• Assist clients with medication training
• Demonstrated ability to provide personal care and support services
• First Aid certificate
• Manual Handling
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to work in remote and challenging environments.
• Ability to adapt to limited resources and use creative problem-solving skills.
• A commitment to delivering high-quality, culturally sensitive care.
• Ability to adapt to changing environments and priorities.
• A positive attitude and a passion for teamwork.
• Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, including an understanding of their cultural values, traditions, and healthcare practices.
