About the role
The Orange Local Aboriginal Land Council (OLALC) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation committed to supporting our community through culturally strong programs that promote wellbeing, education, and opportunity.
We are seeking a passionate and committed Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person to join our team across our Designing Futures and Supported Playgroup programs.
About the Role
This is a hands-on, community-focused role supporting children, young people, and families through culturally safe and engaging programs.
You will work across:
Designing Futures – supporting Aboriginal young people aged 9–15 to strengthen engagement with education and future pathways
Supported Playgroup – supporting parents and children (0–5 years) to build strong foundations for early learning and development
Plan and deliver workshops, after-school activities, homework support, and school holiday programs
Deliver supported playgroup sessions for children aged 0–5 and their families
Build strong, respectful relationships with children, young people, families, and community
Provide supervision, encouragement, and guidance during activities
Set up, facilitate, and pack down program activities and events
Support safe transport of children and young people (in line with policies)
Create safe, engaging, and culturally appropriate environments for all participants
You are passionate about supporting Aboriginal children, young people, and families and are committed to creating positive outcomes in community.
To be successful, you will have:
A strong connection to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community
Experience working with children and/or young people (community, school, cultural or recreational settings)
Minimum Certificate III in Early Childhood Education OR relevant experience
Ability to build trust and engage respectfully with families and community
Good communication and teamwork skills
Reliability, flexibility, and willingness to learn
Understanding of issues impacting Aboriginal children, young people, and families
Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
National Criminal Record Check (or willingness to obtain)
Current C Class Driver’s Licence
