Water Cart / Body Truck Driver

About the role

Bentley Excavations is seeking a Water Cart / Body Truck Driver to join our team on a casual basis. This is a vital position within our construction operations, responsible for the safe and efficient operation of water carts and body trucks across various project sites. Based in Hervey Bay QLD, this casual role offers flexibility whilst supporting the essential logistics and site management functions that keep our construction projects running smoothly. You will be instrumental in ensuring project sites have the necessary water supply and materials transport capabilities required for daily operations.

What you'll be doing

• Operating water carts and body trucks safely and efficiently across construction sites in compliance with all relevant legislation and safety standards

• Transporting water, materials, and equipment to and from project locations as directed

• Conducting pre-operation vehicle inspections and reporting any mechanical issues or maintenance requirements

• Maintaining accurate records of deliveries, fuel consumption and hours of operation

• Communicating effectively with site supervisors and other team members to ensure timely and accurate deliveries

• Adhering to all site-specific safety protocols and environmental regulations

• Performing routine vehicle maintenance and cleanliness checks

• Operating vehicles within designated routes and speed limits, prioritising safety at all times

What we're looking for

• Valid Heavy Rigid (HR) or Heavy Combination (HC) driver's licence, with experience operating large vehicles

• Proven experience operating water carts and/or body trucks in a construction or similar industrial environment

• Strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements, particularly relating to vehicle operation on construction sites

• Ability to conduct pre-operation vehicle checks and identify maintenance issues

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills with the ability to work collaboratively on busy project sites

• Reliability and punctuality, with a genuine commitment to meeting project timelines

• Manual handling skills and physical capability to support loading and unloading of materials where required
