Geoscientist, Minerals

The Geoscientist, Minerals supports the Geological Survey of Victoria’s contributions to the national MinEx Cooperative Research centre through the compilation, analysis and integration of geoscience data. 

Working closely with colleagues, you’ll bring strong communication and critical thinking abilities to undertake geoscience data acquisition, interpretation and research activities, primarily in an office-based environment, to improve understanding of Victoria’s geology and mineral prospectivity. 

Participation in field investigations may be required to validate geological interpretations and collect additional information. Through these activities, technical expertise, analytical capability and professional judgement in mineral systems geoscience are developed while contributing to strategic applied geoscience research to advance Victoria’s geology and mineral investment opportunities.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

• A tertiary qualification in geoscience (Honours minimum) including field mapping and economic geology studies and an independent research component is mandatory.
• A current valid Victorian driver’s licence is mandatory.

This is fixed term position until 30 June 2028. The work location for this position is Melbourne CBD with hybrid work arrangements available.
