Supervisor Roads and Drainage – Sarina Depot
Are you an experienced civil construction supervisor with a passion for maintaining and improving roads and drainage infrastructure? Mackay Regional Council is seeking an Supervisor Roads and Drainage to lead and manage operational teams delivering maintenance, rehabilitation and upgrade works across our community.
About This Opportunity
As the Supervisor Roads and Drainage, you will work under general direction to deliver road and drainage maintenance, rehabilitation and upgrade works in line with agreed service levels. This role provides leadership to operational staff, supports effective planning and scheduling, and offers technical advice relating to roads and drainage infrastructure, including restoration works following natural disaster events.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage staff within the Roads and Drainage team, including operational staff management, timesheet review and approval, performance management and staff development. Plan, schedule and deliver maintenance, rehabilitation and upgrade works for roads and drainage infrastructure, including minor projects and natural disaster restoration works. Monitor worksites, plant and equipment utilisation to ensure tasks are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with agreed service levels and work standards. Provide technical advice, undertake inspections, compile defect lists and contribute to Council’s asset management and maintenance management systems. Support budget monitoring and cost control by preparing cost estimates and preliminary budgets for assigned maintenance and rehabilitation activities. Promote a safe, positive and productive workplace culture, including workplace health and safety, environmental compliance, continuous improvement and responsive customer service.
Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills
Qualification in Civil Construction or a related field, such as Certificate IV in Civil Construction or equivalent. Current General Construction Safety Induction ‘White’ Card. Current QLD “C” Class Driver’s Licence (manual) or interstate equivalent, noting interstate licences must be transferred to QLD within three months of commencement. Current Traffic Management qualifications, minimum Traffic Management Implementation. Practical and relevant experience in roads and drainage maintenance and/or construction, including experience in a senior supervisory role. Experience leading and managing teams, planning and schedulingmaintenance activities, and supporting workplace health and safety and quality systems. Well-developed interpersonal, communication, team management, time management and problem-solving skills, including the ability to work effectively with staff, contractors and members of the public. Well-developed computer skills with the ability to use corporate systems, including maintenance and asset management systems and Microsoft Office products.
