The Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced Financial Accountant looking to step into a broad, commercially focused role where you can truly partner with the business.
Based in our Essendon Fields Office and reporting directly to the Financial Controller, this role goes beyond the numbers. You'll be a trusted advisor to operational leaders, provide meaningful insights, and help shape financial strategies that drive performance.
Key Responsibilities
Meet the Group financial reporting requirements
Analyze and manage project work in progress and work in hand schedules
Reconcile balance sheet accounts each month
Manage all statutory and taxation matters including GST, PAYG, payroll tax, income tax, annual declarations
Manage overheads to budget and drive achievement of overhead savings as required
Ensure compliance with Forecasts, budgets, commercial: Work closely with operational management to provide monthly P&L and cash-flow forecasts and analyze trends
Manage the divisional annual budget process
Provide sound financial and commercial advice to the business
Advise and support business unit managers with their reporting, project reviews, forecasts and strategies
In conjunction with the business unit managers, advise on financial implications of various contractual issues and support the decision making process on contracts, deeds and other agreements
Review capital requirements with the business
Actively participate in system or process reviews that improve the business in all areas
Here's what we are looking for…
Minimum 3-5 years of sound financial accounting experience in a commercial environment
Tertiary qualifications in accounting, commerce or business
Good working knowledge of financial processes, accounting principles and tax concepts, including an ability to analyze financial information and reconcile accounts
Experience with Xero (preferred)
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Experience with various accounting software programs
CA/CPA qualified, or part-way through is desirable (not essential)
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work efficiently in a team and independently
Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Eligibility to work in Australia on a full time basis
