Position Purpose

The Cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting a variety of Indian dishes in accordance with established recipes and quality standards.

This role is essential to the kitchen operations, ensuring timely food preparation, consistency in flavor and presentation, and adherence to food safety requirements. The position supports daily service operations and contributes to maintaining the restaurant’s reputation for authentic and high-quality cuisine.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook a range of Indian dishes including Biryanis, Curries, Tandoori items, and Specialty menu offerings
• Assist in food preparation including cutting, marinating, and seasoning ingredients
• Follow standard recipes and cooking techniques to maintain consistency in taste and presentation
• Operate kitchen equipment including tandoor ovens, grills, and commercial cooking appliances
• Monitor cooking times, temperatures, and portion sizes to ensure quality control
• Ensure all food is prepared and presented in a timely manner during service periods
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen workstations
• Assist in stock control, ingredient preparation, and inventory management
• Ensure proper storage and handling of food in accordance with food safety regulations
• Monitor and minimize food wastage through effective preparation and portion control
• Work collaboratively with kitchen staff to ensure smooth service operations
• Follow workplace health and safety (WHS) and hygiene standards at all times

Qualifications and Experience

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent or higher qualification
• Minimum 1 year of relevant full-time experience as a Cook in a commercial kitchen
• Experience in Indian cuisine, particularly Hyderabadi dishes, is highly desirable
• Knowledge of food safety standards, hygiene practices, and kitchen operations
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks during service
• Strong attention to detail in food preparation and presentation
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible shifts including evenings and weekends

Salary: $70,000 – $85,000 per annum + Superannuation
