Structural Steel Welder – Day & Night Shifts Available

This organisation is a well-regarded structural steel fabricator based in Melbourne's west, delivering steelwork for construction projects across Victoria and Australia-wide. Backed by a skilled trade team and a solid track record for quality workmanship, they're growing their workshop and looking to bring on several Welders across day and night shifts.

About this opportunity:

• Sunshine West location

• Temp to perm — direct employment with the client from day one, genuine ongoing work

• Monday to Friday work

• Day shift schedule - 6:00am – 2:30pm

• Night shift schedule - 6:30pm - 2:30am

• Immediate start

• Join an established, experienced trade team in a busy structural steel workshop

• Hands-on welding role working with structural steel (mild steel)

What you'll be doing:

• MIG welding structural steel components to a high standard, following weld symbols and specifications

• Welding beams, columns, cleats, base plates and trusses that have been fitted and tacked up, ready for weld-out

• Reading weld symbols and cutting lists to ensure the correct weld type, size and sequence

• Managing distortion control on larger fabrications during weld-out

• Working from tacked-up assemblies with minimal supervision

• Maintaining a clean, tidy and safe workshop

To be considered for this role:

• Solid MIG welding experience essential

• Ability to pass a practical weld test as part of the selection process

• Confident reading weld symbols and basic fabrication drawings

• Physically capable of sustained hands-on trade work

• Background in structural steel welding is required

• Overhead crane, forklift, or dogging/rigging tickets highly regarded but not essential
