About the role
With more than 36 years of experience, we are a well-established commercial building contractor known for delivering high-quality projects and building long-term client relationships. We are seeking a HSEQ Advisor to join our team and play a key role in the commercial delivery of projects across a diverse portfolio. What you will bring
· Valid qualification in Occupational Health and Safety (min Cert IV)
· Cert IV in Training and Assessing (desirable, but not essential)
· Incident investigation qualification or deep understanding (ICAM/ TapRoot).
· Minimum 5 years’ experience in a HSEQ role, preferably, in a commercial construction and Fitout environment.
· Knowledge and familiarity with WA WHS legislation
· Good knowledge of risk assessment practices and processes.
· Experience dealing with staff, trades, and clients
· An ability to work cooperatively and effectively in a team environment.
· A high degree of integrity.
· The ability to work under pressure and to prioritise work effectively.
Reporting to the HSEQ Manager, duties and responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: -
· Assist with preparation and implementation of HSEQ policies, procedures, templates, and the like, and training other staff members in their use.
· Monitor HSEQ targets.
· Advise project team members in matters of Health, Safety, Environment and Quality.
· Assist in maintenance of Site HSEQ Plans and associated documentation.
· Assist with site inductions/ orientations.
· Review and assist in development of SWMS/JSA.
· Issue HSEQ information to the Project Team for toolbox meetings and dissemination.
· Assist with incident investigation and consult with site personnel to devise and implement remedial actions.
· Collate and analyze injury and incident statistics to develop proactive prevention strategies
· Assist with implementation of injury management and return to work programs of injured workers to prevent further injury. This includes liaising with medical practitioners and associated rehabilitation provider and site personnel to ensure a smooth return to work.
· Where knowledge gaps exist, arrange appropriate training
· Coordinate competence training
· Maintain and retain documents pertaining to all the above activities according to statutory requirements
· Coordinate HSEQ management reporting and presentations for HSEQ Committee Meetings
