About the role
Iwiri Aboriginal Corporation is seeking an Art Studio Coordinator to join our team in Port Adelaide, SA. This part-time position (0.6) plays a vital role in supporting our art studio operations and ensuring the smooth delivery of our art programme. As Art Studio Coordinator, you will be instrumental in facilitating the creative process, managing studio resources, and helping to bring our artists' visions to life whilst maintaining a welcoming and productive workspace for all participants.
Iwiri Aboriginal Corporation is a member-led Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation, based in Port Adelaide, servicing Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (Anangu) people. Iwiṟi was established in 2018 by Anangu who were concerned about the cultural isolation and social disadvantage members of their community were experiencing in Adelaide. Iwiri’s mission is to promote cultural, social, mental and emotional wellbeing for Anangu across the lifespan. Iwiri achieves this by creating social opportunities for Aṉangu to come together and share, retain and promote their culture.
Iwiṟi Arts is one of a number of Iwiri programs that aim to nurture key pillars of Anangu identity, Ngura (country/home), Tjukurpa (philosophy lore), Walytja (kin and other connections) and Kurunpa (spirit) while also creating economic opportunity for Anangu. Established in 2021, Iwiri Arts is a commercial art studio where Anangu artists living in or visiting Adelaide can access materials, mentoring and support to continue their professional art practice in ceramics and painting. Our studio is a hub for artistic collaboration, cultural celebration and community engagement, where creativity flourishes and voices are heard.
Working with Iwiri Aboriginal Corporation offers the opportunity to be part of a vibrant creative community and contribute meaningfully to the promotion of Aboriginal arts and culture. As a part-time (0.6) role, this position offers flexibility to balance other commitments whilst being involved in rewarding work. We are committed to fostering an inclusive, supportive workplace where team members are valued and respected. We welcome applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and encourage applications from candidates of all backgrounds who are passionate about supporting our mission.
