We are a client-centred organisation, supporting the community throughout Barwon, Wimmera, and the South West regions, offering a range of specialist support services to people impacted by sexual and family violence, encompassing 24 hour crisis care, specialist response services, early intervention programs, Victims Assistance Program, Community Legal Services, trauma recovery programs, professional training and primary prevention initiatives.

About The Role

This position provides specialised first point of contact for our service in the assessment of adults, young people, children and families (with non-offending parent/s) who have experienced family violence. As the first point of contact for our organisation, it is important that the intake service provides an informed, timely, consistent, client-centred response that is focused on a high-quality service. The position is required to establish appropriate community contacts and develop and maintain professional working relationships with a broad range of stakeholders in the provision of the program’s services to achieve improved outcomes for clients. This position also assists the Specialist Family Violence Team Leader in supporting and mentoring Case Management team members to ensure high quality service provision to clients and in compliance with our funding requirements.

Key Selection Criteria

Essential Qualifications and Experience

Your application must address the following:

• Degree or above qualification in social work, psychology, or related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years relevant experience post qualification.

Essential Skills and Knowledge

• Demonstrate highly developed engagement and assessment skills with people affected by family violence who are seeking professional support, including crisis intervention, case management and safety and risk assessment.
• A comprehensive understanding of family violence including a theoretical framework that includes intersectional feminist and structural theory and locates individuals within their social and familial context.
• A comprehensive understanding of case management practice informed by a gender analysis of violence against women and children, the impact of trauma, human rights, and feminist theory.
• Demonstrate versatility in a range of methods for client engagement such as online, phone or face to face appointments. • Demonstrated ability to reflect and analyse complex problems and provide workable solutions.
• Demonstrated capacity to adapt, support and manage change.
• High level ability to provide advice and direction for staff on complex matters including, crisis intervention, comprehensive risk assessments and safety planning, timely and considered decision making, and planning to respond to client's needs in a trauma informed manner.
• Ability to model positive and dynamic leadership skills to lead, support and develop a team of case managers to inspire vision, direction, and professional conduct. • Demonstrated skills in building relationships with a range of stakeholders at a systemic and individual planning level.
• Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the principles of equity, diversity, continual improvement, risk management and occupational health and safety. • Demonstrated ability to flexibly manage completing priorities and assist others to do so.
• A comprehensive understanding of the family violence service system including knowledge of the Family Violence Protection Act 2008 and MARAM.

Period of Appointment

This position is ongoing depending on funding.

Hours of work

• The position is full time

• Location of the position is at the Warrnambool office or outreach locations as required.

• Hours will usually be worked during business hours of 9.00am to 5.06 pm between Monday to Friday.

• The days are based on the needs of the service.

• Flexibility in working hours will be required from time to time as the need arises.

Salary and Conditions

Annual salary range is SCHADS Level 6 pay point 1-3 plus superannuation (pro rata for part time). Salary will be commensurate with experience and skills. 

Industrial Instrument: The Sexual Assault & Family Violence Centre Enterprise Agreement 2023.

Salary Packaging: Provided via Maxxia. PBI status with other expenses available to package above this cap. The Sexual Assault & Family Violence Centre is a Public Benevolent Institution.

Superannuation: The employer will also make superannuation payments on your behalf in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee (Administration) Act 1992.

Probationary Period – 6 months with a review conducted during this time.
