About the Opportunity:

As the Senior Rangelands Officer, you will lead the development of grazing strategies that optimise sustainable production and improve land condition, while driving natural resource management practices such as weed control. You will work with the pastoral team across Northern Australia to create profitable, productive, and environmentally sustainable systems that deliver premium beef trusted worldwide. As a key member of the Rangelands team, you’ll oversee day-to-day operations, lead innovation, and champion new technologies to continuously improve sustainable production.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Develop and deliver technical services that enable precision pasture management.
• Lead and support the Rangelands Officer team, including setting annual work plans.
• Drive innovation through research and development to continuously improve sustainable production systems.
• Assist with budget planning, establishment, and tracking for rangelands operations.
• Design and implement grazing strategies to optimise productivity and land condition.
• Contribute to natural capital and biodiversity assessments across pastoral properties.
• Collaborate with station management, staff, contractors, and the wider Sustainability & Environment team.
• Champion the adoption of new pastoral management technologies and sustainable farming practices.

What you will bring to this role:

• Tertiary qualification in Agricultural Science, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
• Strong understanding of GIS software and its application in land management.
• Proven knowledge of sustainable farming practices and natural resource management, including pasture and land condition, weed control, biodiversity, soil health, and erosion.
• Solid understanding of cattle industry production systems and market dynamics.
• Ability to engage, influence, and build natural resource management capability among land managers.
• Current driver’s licence (essential) and experience with off-road driving.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly.
