Pharmacy Assistant

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Pharmacy Assistant to join the team at Greenwell and Thomas Pharmacy in Katoomba, NSW. This is a part-time position providing an opportunity to develop a diverse range of skills while making a meaningful contribution to our community pharmacy. The role will also involve regular weekend work. As a Pharmacy Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the pharmacist and ensuring our customers receive excellent service and care. You will be responsible for assisting with the safe, accurate and efficient distribution out of medications, managing inventory, and providing outstanding customer service to our diverse patient base.

Key responsibilities

• Receiving and processing prescriptions from customers, ensuring accurate information is recorded

• Managing pharmacy stock and inventory, including ordering, receiving, and organising medications and health products

• Maintaining accurate pharmacy records and documentation in compliance with regulatory requirements

• Providing friendly and professional customer service, answering general enquiries about over-the-counter products and services

• Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised pharmacy environment

• Assisting with the operation of pharmacy systems and point-of-sale equipment

What we're looking for

• A high school qualification or equivalent

• Previous experience working in a pharmacy or retail environment is desirable but not essential

• Strong numeracy and literacy skills

• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, particularly when handling medications

• Ability to work as part of a team and independently under supervision

• Good communication skills and a customer-focused approach

• Reliability and punctuality

• A commitment to maintaining confidentiality and patient privacy

• Willingness to undertake relevant training and gain knowledge of pharmacy practice

• Physical capability to perform tasks such as standing for extended periods and lifting stock
