Remote Area Nurse

About the Opportunity:

Are you passionate about making a meaningful impact while working in a dynamic and supportive team? Puntukurnu Aboriginal Medical Services (PAMS) is seeking Remote Area Nurse to join our organisation.

As a RAN, you will promote wellbeing, treat illness, maintain health systems to support Puntukurnu Aboriginal Medical Service’s (PAMS) core business and encourage community health action in order to contribute to better health outcomes for people within the Eastern Pilbara desert communities of Jigalong, Parnngurr, Punmu and Kunawarritji.

Key Responsibilities:

·Provide primary health care services as part of a multidisciplinary team.

·Deliver safe, effective care using CARPA guidelines and Communicare.

·Maintain accurate clinical records and client follow-up.

·Participate in a 24-hour on-call roster.

·Administer medications and immunisations in line with AHPRA and legislative requirements.

·Provide health education, chronic disease management, and health promotion activities.

·Support quality care outcomes and maximise Medicare claiming opportunities.

About You:

To be considered for this position, you must have:

·Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse with a minimum of 3 years’ post-registration experience.

·Demonstrated practice in line with NMBA Registered Nurse Standards and Code of Conduct.

·Experience working in a multidisciplinary primary health care team, including teamwork and conflict resolution skills.

·Strong primary health care knowledge and understanding of the Remote Area Nurse (RAN) scope of practice.

·Understanding of primary health care principles and the Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service model.

·Commitment to culturally safe practice, with respect for Aboriginal culture and an understanding of the health issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

·Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

·Experience using electronic patient management systems, preferably Communicare.

·Current Understanding Vaccines and National Immunisation Program Certificate (or willingness to obtain within 6 weeks).

·Current i-STAT/point-of-care testing qualification (or willingness to obtain within 6 weeks).

·Current First Aid and/or Intermediate/Advanced Life Support certification.

·Willingness to travel and work across Jigalong, Parnngurr, Punmu, and Kunawarritji as required.

About the Organisation

With an administrative hub based in Newman, in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, The Puntukurnu Aboriginal Medical Service (PAMS) provides holistic primary health care to the individuals and families within the remote communities of Jigalong, Parnngurr, Punmu and Kunawarritji.

PAMS aims to improve the standard of health of the Martu people and all Aboriginal people living in the East Pilbara region of Western Australia through the provision of community based, comprehensive primary health care services. We exist to promote the health and well-being of individual community members and to relieve sickness and the suffering of the indigenous community as a whole. We are passionate about providing the highest standard of patient care whilst incorporating a holistic approach toward diagnosis and management of illness.
