ABOUT THE ROLE:

With the recent local and world markets shift towards zero emission vehicles and benefitting from Volgren’s strong focus on the design and development of innovative new bus solutions, we are looking to increase our workforce at this exciting time with talented individuals contributing to the overall success of our company.

We are looking for a Skilled Auto Electrician to join our After Sales section within our Dandenong facility. In this hands-on position, you will have a strong drive and motivation to succeed and be able to work in a safety conscious environment.

Position enjoys a monthly RDO. Pay rate is market competitive and depends on experience and qualifications. This will be a permanent full-time opportunity and paid as per our Enterprise Agreement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Diagnose and repair electrical faults and computer-controlled systems used in automotive technology.
• Determine if a repair, upgrade, or new installation is required and carry out the process accordingly.
• Calibrate and test any electrical components and wiring following installation, repair, or upgrade.
• Service or replace defective electrical parts and wiring.
• Install/upgrade accessories.
• Test headlight strength and alignment.
• Safely use hand and electrical tools.
• Follow all relevant safety guidelines and procedures.
• Dismantling and removing electrical and electronic assemblies and components.
• Connecting power-operated vehicle equipment and accessories to power supply.
• Replacing defective parts such as fuses, lamps and switches.
• Fault finding using multimeter and schematics.
• Working with multiplex systems and programs.
• Installing and maintaining pneumatic/electrical systems.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

• Possess nationally recognised trade qualification in automotive technician/auto electrician.
• HR (Auto) license is desired but not essential.
• Extensive on the job experience as an auto electrician, ideally in a heavy vehicle environment
• Previous experience in commercial vehicles, bus and coaches highly regarded.

This position also requires the applicant to undertake a pre-employment medical which includes a drug and alcohol analysis, musculoskeletal evaluation and hearing test
