About the role
Location: Western SydneyContract: 6-12 months (high likelihood of conversion to permanent)Work Model: Hybrid
A consulting firm is seeking a Senior Consultant-level Data Analyst to join an active data program supporting robotics and automation initiatives within a medical devices manufacturing environment. The consultant will be embedded in a high-performing team that takes strong pride in the quality and rigour of their delivery, spanning both analytics reporting and data engineering across structured and unstructured data in the cloud.
Beyond the immediate engagement, this role carries genuine growth potential, with the expectation that the right candidate could evolve into a Principal-level contributor over time. The ideal talent is an experienced, commercially minded data professional who is equally comfortable presenting insights to C-suite executives and rolling up their sleeves on technical delivery — with insurance industry experience highly valued given the firm's significant presence in that sector.
Key ActivitiesAnalyse and interpret complex structured and unstructured datasets across the in-flight manufacturing and robotics data program, translating findings into clear, actionable insights for technical and non-technical audiences.Design and develop data engineering solutions including pipelines, data models, and cloud-based data architecture using Microsoft Azure and Dataverse.Build and maintain analytics reporting outputs and dashboards that communicate program progress and performance metrics to senior stakeholders, including C-suite executives.Work across ERP systems and SQL databases to extract, transform, and integrate data across the enterprise data environment.Engage proactively with client stakeholders — in structured settings and informally — demonstrating strong interpersonal skills, professional presence, and sound judgement in every interaction.Operate with a high degree of autonomy: take ownership of a defined outcome, determine the approach, and drive it to completion with minimal hand-holding.Contribute collaboratively to the broader team culture — sharing knowledge, supporting colleagues, and maintaining the team's standard for delivery excellence.
Your BackgroundEssentialProven experience as a Data Analyst or Data Engineer at a Senior Consultant level, ideally within a consulting or professional services environment.Hands-on proficiency with Microsoft Azure and Dataverse for cloud-based data solutions.Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases in enterprise environments.Experience with ERP systems and integrating ERP data into analytics or reporting workflows.Programming experience in Visual Basic or C# (Visual Studio environment).Demonstrated ability to work across both analytics reporting and data engineering disciplines.Exceptional verbal communication skills in English — confident and credible presenting to C-suite executives, as well as engaging informally with client stakeholders at all levels.A self-starter mindset — given an outcome, takes ownership of the path to get there without requiring close direction.Comfortable with a hybrid working arrangement and able to commute to client sites in the Western Sydney area (own transport required).DesirableExperience in the insurance industry, particularly in data and analytics contexts. Background in manufacturing, medical devices, industrial operations, or adjacent sectors.Familiarity with data programs supporting automation, robotics, or operational technology environments.Demonstrated trajectory toward or interest in Principal/lead consultant responsibilities.
