Merchandise Planner

We're looking for a commercially minded Merchandise Planner to join our team and help shape the product and inventory strategy across our Retail, Online and Wholesale channels.
 
Reporting to the Planning Manager, you'll play a key role in developing and executing seasonal planning strategies, managing OTB and pre-season budgets, and identifying opportunities to optimise inventory and drive business performance.
 
THE ROLE:

• Develop and maintain seasonal, monthly and weekly sales, inventory, margin and stock plans.
• Build, manage and forecast OTB budgets across departments and seasons.
• Support monthly forecasting, scenario planning and commercial decision-making.
• Develop sales and gross profit budgets using historical performance and future trends.
• Identify commercial risks and opportunities across sales, margin, inventory and product availability.
• Partner with Product, Retail Operations and Supply Chain teams to develop seasonal assortment plans aligned to sales and profit objectives.
• Manage inventory positions to maintain healthy stock levels while minimising excess inventory.
• Monitor stock availability, supply chain lead times and fulfilment risks.
• Identify opportunities for in-season purchases, replenishment and promotional activity.
• Develop and maintain planning tools and inventory forecasts to support continuity and core product replenishment.
• Build and maintain weekly, monthly and seasonal reporting and dashboards.
• Provide clear, actionable insights and recommendations to stakeholders across the business.
• Complete post-season reviews and performance analysis to identify opportunities for future seasons.
• On-site role 5-days per week, based in our St Kilda Road offices.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

• Previous experience in a similar Merchandise Planning role.
• Strong forecasting, financial planning and analytical capabilities.
• Commercial acumen and a strong understanding of sales, margin and inventory drivers.
• Experience managing OTB budgets and developing sales and stock plans.
• Strong planning and organisational skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
• The ability to identify risks and opportunities and confidently make recommendations.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• A collaborative, relationship-focused approach and the ability to work effectively across Product, Retail Operations and Supply Chain.
• The ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
• Wholesale planning experience would be highly regarded.
• A tertiary qualification in Business, Commerce, Retail Management or a related discipline is preferred.
