Packing Shed Supervisor / All-Rounder

Apteds Orchards is a fifth-generation family orchard in Arthurs Creek, growing apples, pears and cherries and supplying customers across Victoria.

We’re looking for a practical, reliable Packing Shed Supervisor / All-Rounder to join our team.

This is a hands-on role for someone who likes variety, takes responsibility and isn’t afraid to jump in wherever needed. You’ll help keep our packing line running smoothly, coordinate the team working on the line, operate a forklift and tackle the many different jobs that come up in a busy fruit packing shed.

Some days you’ll be supervising. Other days you’ll be on the line alongside the team, moving bins, preparing orders or helping solve whatever needs solving.

Your day-to-day work will include:

·         Supervising and coordinating staff on the fruit packing line

·         Keeping packing jobs organised and the line running efficiently

·         Working on the packing line alongside the team when required

·         Operating forklifts to move fruit bins, pallets and packed product

·         Loading, unloading and moving stock around the packing shed and cool rooms

·         Assisting with order preparation and dispatch

·         Helping with general shed organisation, cleaning and maintenance

·         Troubleshooting the everyday issues that arise during packing

·         Pitching in with other orchard and shed jobs when needed

·         Occasionally assisting with our Pick Your Own and farm visitor operations

·         Some optional weekend work during busy periods

This isn't a role where you'll spend the day standing back and directing others. We're looking for someone who is comfortable taking charge when required but equally happy to roll up their sleeves and get the job done.

You’ll suit this role if you are:

·         Reliable and able to take responsibility for getting a job finished

·         Practical, organised and good at thinking on your feet

·         Comfortable coordinating and working with a small team

·         Someone who notices what needs doing without always needing to be told

·         Calm when things get busy or plans change

·         Physically capable and happy working in a hands-on environment

·         Willing to help across different areas of the business when required

• Comfortable working independently as well as part of a team

Experience in fruit, produce, warehousing, manufacturing, packing or a similar hands-on environment would be highly regarded, but we're also interested in people from other practical industries who have the right attitude and skills.

A forklift licence and forklift experience are highly desirable.

Previous experience supervising staff or coordinating a small team would also be an advantage.

Apteds Orchards has been growing fruit since 1912. While we're a long-established family orchard, the business is diverse and busy, with wholesale fruit, packing and cool storage alongside farmers markets, farm-gate sales, deliveries and Pick Your Own events.

That means this role offers plenty of variety and the opportunity to become an important part of the day-to-day operation of the orchard.
