About the role
The Discrimination, Health Services and Disability and Community Services Commissioner and Information Privacy Commissioner, is inviting applications from experienced, highly motivated, proactive professionals to join the Complaints Team in the role of Senior Investigator and Conciliator.
The complaints team form part of the ACT Human Rights Commission, an independent agency established by the Human Rights Commission Act 2005. The role of the ACT Human Rights Commission is to:
The Senior Investigator and Conciliator will manage a caseload of complex complaints across multiple jurisdictions including, health services, services for older people, services for children and young people, disability services, discrimination, privacy, retirement villages, elder abuse, abuse, neglect or exploitation of a person with a disability and older people, services for victims of crime, occupancy disputes and sexuality and gender identity conversion practices.
In addition to the investigation and conciliation (alternative dispute resolution) of complaints the role also includes undertaking research, policy and project work and community education.
The successful candidate will possess, or demonstrate the ability to quickly acquire, a sound understanding of the functions of the ACT Human Rights Commission and the statutory framework for complaint handling.
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills are essential, together with a demonstrated ability to work proactively, adapt to changing priorities, and manage competing demands effectively.
This role involves working directly with members of the ACT community to resolve complex and often sensitive matters within legislated and operational timeframes. The successful applicant will demonstrate sound judgement, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred services.
