About the role
A Big 4 financial institution is undertaking a major financial crime project. As part of this nationwide uplift, we are rapidly scaling our risk operations to reinforce key AML/CTF, Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), and regulatory compliance initiatives.
We are seeking experienced Financial Crime professionals who can hit the ground running across several core capabilities within the project:
Risk & Senior Risk Analysts: Driving complex investigations end-to-end, transaction monitoring alerts, and high-risk customer reviews.
Quality Analysts (QA): Conducting file audits, risk decision reviews, and ensuring strict adherence to AUSTRAC operational standards.
Reporting Specialists: Extracting risk data, building operational dashboards, and preparing statutory Suspicious Matter Reports (SMRs).
Execute thorough end-to-end financial crime investigations, assessing money laundering, sanctions, or terrorism financing risks.
Draft detailed, accurate Suspicious Matter Reports (SMRs) for AUSTRAC submission.
Audit completed case files to ensure qualitative standards and internal compliance metrics are maintained.
Analyse complex transaction data and customer profiles to inform risk remediation outcomes.
Collaborate with senior risk leaders to identify emerging financial crime typologies and operational bottlenecks.
Proven Experience: Prior background in a bank or major financial institution within AML/CTF, KYC/EDD, Sanctions, or Fraud operations.
Regulatory Knowledge: An understanding of AUSTRAC regulations, SMR frameworks, and financial crime risk typologies.
Technical & Analytical Skills: Proficiency with enterprise transaction monitoring systems, risk management platforms, and data analysis tools (SQL or advanced Excel advantageous).
