The opportunity:
Are you a skilled nurse with experience in day hospital urology or surgical and a passion for learning?

We have a new opportunity to join our dynamic team at Icon Cancer Centre, Tennyson, where you’ll play a vital role in key urological procedures and supporting oncological services. 

Reporting to the Nurse Manager, to provide high quality nursing support for our oncology patients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and coordinate the administration of Day Hospital procedures and assist with chemotherapy and supportive care treatments in a busy day hospital environment
• Provide exceptional cancer care to our patients and their families
• Deliver an unparalleled patient experience
• Support and encourage the development of less experienced nursing staff
• Provide leadership and support to the nursing team
• Promote clinical excellence with an emphasis on safe and high-quality nursing practice
• Support implementation of new systems, therapies and clinical trials.
• Actively motivate others and maintain an environment of continuous quality improvement.  

About you:
We are looking for an experienced Day Hospital Urology or Surgical Clinical Nurse, looking for a fresh challenge and to enhance their existing skills in a very supportive and friendly environment. If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.

Qualifications:

• Current nursing registration with AHPRA (no restrictions)
• Post-graduate or willing to work towards urology, surgical and / or oncology nursing qualification.

Skills and Experience:

• Minimum 3 years post-graduation nursing experience
• Minimum of 2 years clinical experience in Urological or Surgical Nursing
• Willingness to learn and grow in oncology care
• Member of relevant professional bodies (e.g. ANZUNS CNSA, COSA)
• Excellent communication, problem-solving and teamwork skills  

Icon Cancer Centre Tennyson Treatment/Care:

• 29 chair day oncology hospital, offering chemotherapy, targeted therapies and immunotherapy (including intravesical therapies)
• Scalp cooling system – Cooling cap available to help reduce hair loss during chemotherapy treatment
• Radiation Therapy treatments using our state-of-the-art linear accelerator and superficial skin Xray machine
• Treatment for malignant and non-malignant blood disorders, including administration of supportive therapies and blood products such as hormone treatments, bisphosphonates and iron infusions
• Minor procedures for diagnostic and prognostic purposes
• Access to clinical trials
• On-Site Pathology / Pharmacy
