HC & HR Truck Drivers – Hook Trucks | Positions Available

About the role

NewCo Metal Recycling is seeking experienced HC & HR Truck Drivers to join our growing transport fleet, operating hook trucks in a full-time capacity. Based in Melbourne, Victoria, this role is fundamental to our logistics operations, ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of materials across regional and interstate routes. As a Hook Truck Driver, you will be responsible for the safe operation of heavy combination vehicles, managing loads, maintaining vehicle safety standards, and delivering excellent customer service whilst adhering to all road transport regulations and company policies.

Key responsibilities

1. Operate and drive HC & HR hook trucks safely and efficiently in accordance with all road and workplace safety legislation

2. Conduct pre and post-trip vehicle inspections and maintain detailed logbooks and documentation

3. Manage load securing, weight distribution and compliance with load specifications

4. Maintain professional communication with customers, dispatch and management throughout deliveries

5. Adhere to all traffic laws, speed regulations and fatigue management requirements under the National Heavy Vehicle Law

6. Perform routine vehicle maintenance checks and report any mechanical issues or defects promptly

7. Contribute to a positive workplace safety culture and participate in safety briefings and training

8. Manage time effectively to meet delivery schedules and customer expectations

What we're looking for

1. Valid Heavy Combination (HC) or Heavy Rigid (HR) truck driver's licence with a clean driving record

2. Minimum two years' experience driving heavy combination vehicles or hook trucks

3. Current National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation or willingness to obtain this qualification

4. Sound knowledge of load restraint requirements and safe load securing practices

5. Demonstrated commitment to workplace health and safety principles and practices

6. Excellent communication and customer service skills

7. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

8. Physical fitness and capability to perform the demands of the role, including manual handling where required

9. Reliability, professionalism and a strong work ethic
