Primary objective
To provide high level program and project management advice and support in driving the pre-construction and planning
phase for major infrastructure projects including the Darwin Regional Water Supply Program and Territory Energy Link.
Context statement
Infrastructure NT delivers strategic infrastructure planning and development to align infrastructure needs with industry and
population growth. It manages the delivery of significant enabling infrastructure projects and incorporates project execution
teams. The office represents and champions the Territory’s interests at a national level to meet and deliver infrastructure
requirements, forging strong relationships with Australian Government agencies, including Infrastructure Australia and other
jurisdictions.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide expert advice on project management components for complex projects including scheduling, cost management
and risk management using project management software.
2. Develop and maintain collaborative partnerships with the project team members, key internal and external stakeholders
including Interagency Working Groups.
3. Prepare work scopes and briefs for studies and investigations, to enable tendering of project packages to consultants.
4. Provide contract management support to the Director to achieve timely completion and quality of deliverables.
5. Provide support in the development and management of major project governance establishment, and procurements to
acquire services of firms to support the program as it moves from planning into construction.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated relevant experience in the field of project/program management, with a specific focus on the
management of program risk management and project control functions for complex projects.
2. Demonstrated high level knowledge and use of Project Management applications and systems, and a solid working
knowledge of the use of these systems to manage and report on progress, risk, budget control and critical path activities.
3. Demonstrated ability to support delivery of a complex work program with the capacity to adapt to changing priorities.
4. Proven ability to work effectively and efficiently under minimal supervision, ability to meet deadlines and effectively
prioritise workload.
5. High level written and verbal communication skills including the ability to clearly articulate complex concepts and critical
issues with simplicity.
Desirable
1. Tertiary qualification in project or program management, or similar relevant qualification
2. Knowledge and experience in major civil infrastructure project delivery.
