About the role

Mensa Dining Room and Bar is seeking enthusiastic and professional Waiters to join our hospitality team on a casual basis. Based in Kent Town SA 5067, this role is perfect for those who thrive in a fast-paced dining environment and are passionate about delivering exceptional customer service. As a Waiter, you will be the face of our establishment, ensuring every guest enjoys a memorable dining experience through attentive service, product knowledge, and genuine hospitality.

Key responsibilities

• Greeting and seating guests promptly and courteously upon arrival

• Taking food and beverage orders accurately and efficiently

• Recommending menu items, wines, and other beverages to enhance the guest experience

• Serving food and drinks in a professional and timely manner, adhering to food safety standards

• Clearing tables and resetting them for subsequent guests

• Processing payments and managing transactions with accuracy

• Responding to guest requests and resolving any concerns with professionalism and discretion

• Maintaining knowledge of menu items, allergens, and ingredient information

• Supporting the team with general dining room duties and maintaining a clean, welcoming environment

• Collaborating with kitchen and bar staff to ensure smooth service operations

What we're looking for

• Previous experience working as a Waiter or in a similar waitstaff role within a restaurant, café, or hospitality setting

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with diverse clientele

• Strong attention to detail, particularly when taking orders and processing payments

• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining composure

• Physical capability to stand for extended periods and carry trays safely

• Flexibility and reliability, with the ability to work varying shifts including evenings and weekends

• Basic knowledge of food and beverage service standards, or willingness to learn

• A genuine passion for hospitality and commitment to delivering excellent customer service

• Desirable: RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) certification or willingness to obtain it
