About the role
Have you ever wanted to work with high tech lasers and electronics? We’re looking for a high‑precision Laser Assembler to join our advanced manufacturing team. If you have experience in optical assembly, electronics, fine mechanical work, or other precision‑craft industries, you may be an ideal fit — even if you’ve never worked with lasers before.
About the Role
You will assemble, align, and test components for DPL laser systems and laser rangefinder units, working with delicate optics, electronics, and mechanical housings. This role requires steady hands, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to quality.
Who are we:
Laserdyne Technologies designs and manufactures state-of-the-art land, sea, and air-borne electro-optical systems for defence customers worldwide. For over 30 years, we have delivered mission-critical hardware that operates in extreme environments where failure is not an option.
Our work spans electro-optics, lasers, thin-film optics, electronics, and mechanical systems. We are not a mass-production factory. We are a high-value, high-complexity manufacturing environment where craftsmanship, precision, and engineering judgement matter.
Key Responsibilities
May include some or all of the following
Precision optical assembly including lenses, mirrors, and optical paths
Fine mechanical assembly of housings, mounts, and alignment fixtures
Electronics handling including wiring, connectors, and PCB integration
Laser module alignment using microscopes and specialised tools
Quality inspection and documentation of completed assemblies
Maintaining a clean, controlled work environment
Following detailed work instructions and engineering drawings
About You
You don’t need prior laser experience — we provide full training. What matters is your background in precision, high‑quality assembly work. You may come from industries such as:
Optical repair or assembly (cameras, binoculars, microscopes)
Electronics assembly (PCB soldering, medical devices, instrumentation)
Watchmaking or jewellery (fine motor skills, micro‑assembly)
Aerospace or defence (calibration, high‑tolerance assembly)
Scientific or laboratory equipment assembly
Hobbies that have developed similar skills
You will bring:
Strong hand‑eye coordination and fine‑detail focus
Experience working with small components and delicate materials
Ability to follow technical drawings and precise instructions
A quality‑driven mindset and pride in your work
Reliability, consistency, and a calm approach to detailed tasks
