Chief Executive Officer - Moama / Cummeragunja

Description: We are currently seeking an experienced professional to lead our organisation into the future. The Chief Executive Officer is the organisational leader responsible for progressing CHADACs vision of an empowered and supported Aboriginal people of Cummeragunja, who promote a vibrant culture that is physically, spiritually and socially healthy and strong.

Working in partnership with the Board, the role will implement the strategic plan, culture, operations, and sustainability of the organisation.

Providing visible, values‑based leadership across CHADAC and community, ensuring culturally embedded practice, strong governance, financial stewardship, and high‑quality service delivery.

Representing CHADAC across government, partner agencies, and the broader sector, influencing outcomes that benefit the Cummeragunja community and strengthen the ACCHO sector.

Key Selection Criteria:

Essential

• Knowledge of Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations and deep understanding and commitment to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community control principles, with a demonstrated passion for and experience in empowering these communities to achieve long-term health outcomes.
• Proven executive leadership experience in complex human services, health, community, or ACCO environments (ideally at CEO or senior executive level).
• Strong leadership and management skills and the ability to create a positive workplace culture focused on achieving strategic objectives, employee development, engagement and productivity.
• Experience working with Boards, governance structures, risk frameworks, and strategic planning.
• Strong financial and operational leadership, including managing diverse programs and multidisciplinary teams.
• Demonstrated success engaging with community, Elders, government, funders, and partner agencies.
• Exceptional communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and negotiation skills, including facilitating high-level meetings, forums and committees and composing complex and comprehensive reports and other formal documentation.
• Commitment to ethical leadership, cultural integrity, and strengthening organisational capability.

Desirable

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in health, community services, management, governance, or similar (with additional qualifications highly regarded).
• Identifies as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.

Key duties and responsibilities:

Leadership

• Lead and translate CHADACs vision, values, and strategic plan into clear action across all regions and services
• Provide strategic advice and partnership to the Board, supporting high quality governance and decision-making.
• Build and sustain trusted relationships with community, Elders, partners, funders, and government stakeholders.
• Strengthen organisational culture, embedding CHADAC values and self-determination in all programs and operations.
• Promote transparency, communication, and unity across all CHADAC sites, teams, and communities.
• Build and maintain a professional, optimistic, and united team that focusses on sustainable, high quality, patient centred care as per the deliverables contained in the annual business plan
• Build partnerships to enhance service provision to community
• Work collaboratively to achieve the overall objectives of the organisation
• Effective communication with key stakeholders, including community and patients (for example, through social media, website, and newsletters)
• Provide regular supervision and support to all members of the clinical team
• Conduct regular staff meetings

Operational

• Develop and maintain organisational policies and procedures
• Develop and maintain an operational plan
• Ensure strong financial, operational, and workforce performance across a diverse health and community service portfolio.
• Ensure services/programs are delivered in accordance with funding guidelines and are within budget.
• Ensure CHADAC infrastructure is conducive to a safe and practical work environment
• Ensure clinical governance processes are in place
• Develop and maintain effective relationships with local ACCHO’s and key stakeholders
• Provide support, liaison and advocacy for members of the Aboriginal community with other services.

Reporting

• Prepare Monthly reports for the Board of CHADAC.
• Collect data and prepare reports and statistics as required by funding agencies and other service reporting requirements per funding agreement in a timely manner.
• Undertake regular Information Technology (IT) training to ensure useful and accurate data entry relevant to the whole of service reporting requirements.
• Prepare annual work plan with staff reporting to you and produce regular performance reports in accordance with CHADAC requirements of individual work plans, performance management, and reporting systems.

Quality Improvement

• Lead continuous improvement, quality, risk management, compliance, and accountability.
• Monitor organisational performance against contractual requirements eg against KPI’s and develop improvement strategies to ensure we are meeting all targets
• Maintain accreditation against RACGP standards
