About the role

Izakaya Hosaku is a modern Japanese restaurant operating since August 2023, known for vibrant atmosphere, exceptional service and modern Japanese cuisine. The Chef role in this prestigious modern restaurant requires a seasoned professional with experience in high-end kitchens.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and cook food, particularly fish preparation and sushi making
• Monitor and ensure quality of preparation and presentation of dishes are in accordance with the restaurant standards
• Plan menus, estimating food and labour costs
• Discuss food preparation issues
• Assist with recruitment and training of staff
• Monitor stock levels, manage inventory and order food supplies
• Ensure proper handling, storage and labelling of ingredients and prepared items
• Ensure efficient management of goods, produce and minimizing wastage
• Follow and enforce food safety and sanitation regulations

About you

• Minimum of 3 years work experience in commis chef/chef position (or equivalent)
• Proven experiences in sushi making are essential
• Relevant qualifications in commercial cookery and hospitality management (highly recommended but not essential)
• Capable of working in a fast-paced kitchen environment
• Capable of working with a minimum degree of supervision
• Competent in ensuring the efficiency of kitchen's operation
• Strong communication skills who can cooperate with all other employees in the business
• Advanced knowledge of occupational health and safety
• Excellent personal hygiene skills, great presentation and strong working ethics
• Strong attention to details and pride in your work
