Employment type: Full time, PermanentHours per week: 38 hours per weekRemuneration: Band 8 salary from $128,995. per annum plus superannuation and a fortnightly RDOLocation: Werribee based with potential for a hybrid work arrangement About the Role The Coordinator Finance Transactions leads the delivery and continuous improvement of Council's finance operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking, trust accounting, debtor management and financial reconciliations. The role is responsible for ensuring efficient, compliant and customer-focused financial processes that support Council's operations and strategic objectives.
As a key member of the Finance leadership team, you will ensure strong financial controls are in place, maintain compliance with legislative requirements, Council policies and governance frameworks, and support successful audit outcomes and statutory reporting obligations. You will also provide expert financial and systems advice, lead process improvement and transformation initiatives, and build strong partnerships across the organisation.
With a focus on people leadership, you will develop and empower a high-performing team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement and exceptional customer service to deliver efficient, effective and value-driven financial services for the community.
What your day will look likeLead and support Finance Operations teams across accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking, trust accounting and reconciliationsProvide trusted financial, accounting and operational advice to Council staff, stakeholders and the wider organisationAnalyse financial and operational information, identify opportunities and provide recommendations to support informed decision-makingLead continuous improvement and system transformation initiatives that improve financial processes, controls and service deliveryBuild strong relationships across Council while supporting a high-performing, collaborative and positive team culture
What you will bringA degree or diploma in Management, Commerce, Accounting or a related discipline, or equivalent extensive specialist experienceStrong experience working with financial and accounting enterprise systems within a large organisationSound knowledge of accounting principles, internal controls, audit practices and relevant accounting standardsProven experience leading and developing high-performing, collaborative teams and building strong stakeholder relationshipsStrong analytical, communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills, with the ability to drive continuous improvementIf you progress past the interview stage, you may be required to complete pre-employment screening, which may include police checks, a medical, qualification verification, and an Australian work rights check.
