Senior HR Advisor

Ambrose Construct Group is looking for an experienced Senior HR Advisor to join our team in Roselands, Prestons and Mascot.

Reporting to the General Manager of HR and Organisation Development, you will provide trusted HR advisory and operational support across the business, partnering with leaders and employees to deliver effective people practices and positive employee outcomes.

This is a hands-on role where you will support a broad range of HR and employee relations matters while working closely with the General Manager of Human Resources and Organisation Development to deliver key people initiatives and manage day-to-day HR operations.

About the Role

In this role, you will:

• Provide HR advisory and operational support across the business
• Support employee relations matters, including performance management, misconduct, grievances, and disciplinary processes
• Provide practical guidance to leaders on people management matters, policies, and employment legislation
• Prepare HR advice, options, and recommendations for review with the General Manager HR and Organisation Development
• Assist with the formulation of contracts, change of employment conditions letters etc.
• Participate in employee meetings, performance discussions, and other HR-related meetings as required
• Respond to employee and management queries relating to employment conditions, contracts, and HR matters
• Assist with the development and maintenance of employment contracts, policies, and procedures
• Support the onboarding and training of new HR team members
• Facilitate fortnightly employee orientation sessions
• Support employee engagement and culture initiatives, including surveys and action plans
• Assist with exit interviews and analysis of employee exit trends
• Contribute to workforce planning and succession planning activities
• Assist with HR reporting, trend analysis, and identifying areas requiring targeted HR support
• Support the delivery of strategic HR initiatives, including engagement and wellbeing programs
• Maintain accurate, confidential, and compliant HR records
• Promote a positive workplace culture and employee experience
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Australian employment legislation and HR best practice
• Travel will be required between our Sydney offices located in Prestons, Roselands and Mascot on a rotating basis.

About You

You will be an experienced HR professional who is confident providing advice across a diverse workforce and managing a variety of employee relations matters.

You will ideally have:

• A Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or 3+ years of relevant HR experience
• Experience in HR, Industrial Relations, and/or Employee Relations
• Experience working with modern awards and Australian employment legislation
• Knowledge of the Clerks – Private Sector Award and/or Building and Construction General On-site Award is highly desirable
• Strong knowledge of Australian employment law and HR practices
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• The ability to prioritise and manage competing demands in a fast-paced environment
• High-level computer skills and confidence using Microsoft Office and HR systems
• A proactive and solutions-focused approach
• The ability to work collaboratively as part of a high-performing, KPI-driven team
• A high level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
