Are you passionate about making a difference for Western Australia?
We want to hear from you.
About us
The Department of Treasury and Finance is at the centre of Government decision-making. As the principal economic and financial advisor, we provide leadership and strategic advice and influence to support the delivery of services and outcomes for the benefit of Western Australia.
What we do is integral to the Government’s decision-making processes about where and how to spend taxpayer’s money to ensure Western Australians have access to quality services on a financially sustainable basis.
We lead procurement and leverage our buying power to secure products and services for government, achieving value for money for WA.
We collect revenue to fund government services and administer payment of grants and subsidies to the WA community.
The work area
This role sits within the Economic Diversification Directorate which is part of the Economic business unit.
The Economic Diversification team provides advice on the policy and financial settings for the Departments of Energy and Economic Diversification (DEED); and Premier and Cabinet (DPC) including review of budget proposals and advising on matters that deliver against the State’s economic diversification agenda, such as the development of industrial land and defence.
The opportunity
We are looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals to join the Economic Diversification directorate to drive the State’s economic diversification agenda.
The core function of these roles is to provide financial analysis and policy advice on complex business cases; budget submissions; policy proposals; and the performance of relevant agencies in the context of the State’s economic diversification agenda. Analyses and advice developed will apply a particular lens on ensuring value for money outcomes for the State. These roles also provide advice to partner agencies and the Government as part of the State Budget and other whole of government reporting processes.
These roles require critical thinking, a capacity to quickly gain awareness of the broader strategic and political context, strong numerical skills, working closely with stakeholders, and the ability to develop and deliver messages in a clear, concise and compelling manner.
We currently have one (1) permanent full-time position and one (1) fixed term full-time position for up to twelve (12) months available for filling within the Economic Diversification team with the possibility of extension and/or permanency in the future.
