Senior Estimator – Civil Construction

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Estimator to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly capable estimator who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and wants to play an integral role in securing and delivering successful civil construction projects. 

About the Role 

As a Senior Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive tenders across a range of civil construction projects. Working closely with management, project teams, subcontractors and suppliers, you will play a key role from initial tender review through to project award and handover. 

Key responsibilities include: 

• Reviewing project plans, specifications, scopes and tender documentation 

• Preparing detailed and accurate cost estimates and tenders 

• Developing competitive and commercially sound pricing strategies 

• Preparing subcontractor and supplier packages and obtaining quotations 

• Conducting quantity take-offs and analysing project costs 

• Identifying project risks, exclusions, opportunities and potential variations 

• Building strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers and clients 

• Participating in tender negotiations and clarification processes 

• Working closely with Project Managers and Construction Teams during project handover 

• Maintaining accurate estimating records and ensuring deadlines are met 

• Contributing to continuous improvement of estimating processes and systems 

About You 

We are looking for someone who is experienced, commercially minded and confident in their estimating ability. 

You will ideally have: 

• Proven experience as a Senior Estimator within civil construction 

• Strong knowledge of civil construction methodologies, materials and costs 

• Experience estimating projects from $1M through to major civil projects 

• Excellent understanding of plans, specifications and contract documentation 

• Strong attention to detail and exceptional organisational skills 

• Excellent communication and negotiation skills 

• The ability to manage multiple tenders and competing deadlines 

• A strong commercial understanding and ability to identify project risks and opportunities 

• Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office 

• A proactive, solutions-focused approach and the ability to work independently
