About the role

Melbourne Iron & Steel is seeking an experienced Metal Fabricator to join our team in Clayton, VIC. This full-time role is responsible for the skilled fabrication of metal components for high end projects.

What you'll be doing

1. Reading and interpreting drawings and specifications to fabricate high end metal work for residential builds & restaurant/office fit-outs.

2. Operating specialised metalworking equipment such as guillotine, rollers, saws, punch & shears, forklift.

3. Areas to grow your skills in a vast verity of work - Blacksmithing, Architectural steel, structural, sheet metal.

4. Working in a small growing team with a element of site work to see the finish product.

5. Maintaining a clean and organised workspace to support efficient and safe operations

What we're looking for

1. Proven experience as a Metal Fabricator or Welder, with a minimum of 3-5 years' experience in a similar role

2. Strong proficiency in MIG, TIG, and Stick welding techniques, as well as the use of other metalworking tools and machinery

3. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications

4. Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work

5. Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills to identify and resolve issues during the fabrication process

6. Certification in Welding or other relevant trade qualifications would be highly regarded
