Business Manager - Mutarnee State School

We are seeking an experienced Business Manager to join our school leadership team and play a key role in supporting the effective operation of our school.

Working closely with the Principal, you will lead the school's corporate services, ensuring efficient business operations across finance, human resources, facilities and administration. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to student outcomes by supporting the systems and people that enable our school to thrive.

This position is being offered in a Permanent Part-Time capacity (0.38FTE), 27.5 hours per fortnight.

Situated on the southern bank of the beautiful Crystal Creek, Mutarnee State School is approximately 60km north of Townsville. The school has been enthusiastically providing the young people of Mutarnee with an education since 1923.

About the Role:

As the Business Manager you will be responsible for the effective and efficient administrative management of the school by providing corporate services and administrative support to the Principal.

You will work within well-defined guidelines to provide advice and offer solutions to key stakeholders (external and internal) on business related problems (e.g. human resources, finance and facilities management), and have responsibility for autonomously delivering on priorities, seeking expert advice, adapting processes, problem solving and providing solutions according to clear outcomes, with regular guidance by the Principal.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the day-to-day management of school administration, finance and corporate services.
• Support the Principal with financial planning, budgeting, reporting and resource management.
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable, banking, reconciliations and financial administration using departmental systems.
• Supervise and support school support staff, including workforce planning, recruitment, induction, performance monitoring and leave management.
• Coordinate the management of school facilities, assets and minor works, including liaising with contractors and service providers.
• Prepare reports, meeting minutes, correspondence, newsletters and other school publications.
• Provide high-quality advice and administrative support to the Principal and school leadership team.
• Build positive relationships with staff, students, families, community members and external stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with departmental policies, legislative requirements and governance standards while driving continuous improvement across business operations.
