About the Role

We are seeking Retail Sales – Hardware & Timber specialists to join our team at our South Geelong VIC location. We have opportunities available for both permanent and casual team members who are passionate about delivering outstanding customer service and driving sales across our hardware and timber departments. You will engage with customers daily, provide expert product knowledge, and ensure a positive shopping experience. This role is essential to our store's success and directly contributes to building strong customer relationships and achieving sales targets.

You will be flexible and available to work a rotating roster, including weekends.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert product knowledge and recommendations to customers across our hardware and timber ranges, assisting them in selecting appropriate products for their specific needs

• Engage with customers on the sales floor, greeting them warmly and identifying their requirements to offer tailored solutions

• Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently using point-of-sale systems, ensuring all transactions are handled professionally.

• Handle customer enquiries and resolve issues professionally.

• Maintain high merchandising and presentation standards throughout the timber yard and retail areas.

• Replenish stock, rotate inventory and build promotional displays.

• Ensure pricing and ticketing are accurate and up to date.

• Conduct quality checks on stock and manage damaged or soiled merchandise in accordance with company procedures.

• Maintain excellent housekeeping standards across the department.

• Assist with loading customer purchases safely and efficiently.

• Operate forklifts and other authorised equipment safely (where licensed).

• Support stock control, stock returns and inventory accuracy.

• Follow all Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) procedures and actively contribute to a safe workplace.

• Work collaboratively with the wider team to achieve sales and customer service goals.

About You

You'll enjoy helping customers and have a genuine interest in timber and building products. You're proactive, reliable and enjoy working in a fast-paced retail environment.

To be successful, you'll have:

•   Previous retail or customer service experience, preferably within hardware, home improvement, or a similar retail environment

• Strong product knowledge or demonstrated ability to quickly learn about hardware and timber products

• Proven ability to work accurately and efficiently, particularly with point-of-sale systems and stock management

• Physical capability to handle heavy items and work in a fast-paced retail environment

• Reliability and punctuality with a positive, team-oriented attitude

• A positive attitude with the ability to work effectively within a team.

• Good organisational skills and attention to detail.

• A commitment to workplace safety and safe work practices.
